Pot Butter / Marijuana Butter

At the heart of almost every marijuana recipe is marijuana butter or pot butter. Why bother with the marijuana detritus when you can have the same high from this creamy treat. You can use this to cook your marijuana recipes, spread on toast, top on popcorn or do just about anything you would with normal butter.

Light Marijuana Butter

Ingredients
0.75 oz marijuana (very dry shake)
20 oz butter (5 sticks)

Procedure

  • Using a double boiler or a pot within a pot, melt the butter on low heat. (If using 2 pots, place water in the larger pot and put the butter in the smaller pot and set the smaller pot inside the bigger one.)
  • Add the medical-grade marijuana into the melted butter.
  • Simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes then strain the marijuana butter (using a cheesecloth) into a small bowl.
  • Once cooled, pick up the cheesecloth and squeeze out any liquids into the small bowl.
  • Cover and refrigerate the marijuana butter until semi-solid.

Strong Marijuana Butter

Ingredients
2 to 4 oz marijuana (very dry shake)
20 oz butter (5 sticks)

Procedure

  • Using a double boiler or a pot within a pot, place the butter into the inner pot. (If using 2 pots, place water in the larger pot and put the butter in the smaller pot and set the smaller pot inside the bigger one.)

  • Add in your very dry marijuana, take out stalks or foreign matter.

  • Melt the butter on low heat.

  • Simmer for at least 5 hours. Let it cool for a while.

  • Strain the marijuana butter (using a cheesecloth) into a small bowl.

  • Once cooled, pick up the cheesecloth and squeeze out any liquids into the small bowl.

  • Cover and refrigerate the marijuana butter until semi-solid. Remove any water that solidifies into ice.
